Injustice, closed mindedness, excess

Married, 34 years old with a 3 year old and 6 month old. I first
traveled through Mexico with a college anthropology class in
1995. 6 weeks and almost 9000 miles later and I was a changed
man/boy. We hit 15-20 different ruins and towns from Chihuahua & Aguascalientes through Oaxaca and San Miguel - all the way down to Chetumal and somewhere in there I found the center of the universe - the place where I belong.

Ever since then I have been traveling to Mexico 2-3 times/year. 8 years ago, I brought my wife on board, 3 years ago we brought a third member of the family into the fold (son) and just last month our new baby came (daughter).

Many people find that being parents makes them settle into and live with the frantic pace of the US, but for my wife and I the exact opposite happened. Being parents has solidified our resolve to move to Mexico where we can take the time to spend with our family and expose our children to as many different cultures, places and ultimately ideas as possible.

Intellectually and emotionally we are ready to pick up tomorrow and go, but financial obligations are the biggest issue we have right now and we are looking at the different options available to us that could smooth the transition.

Someday Soon

Hey Darren,

Isn't that gap between emotionally ready and financially ready a huge bummer?  Hopefully you and your family will find a way to make the leap.  I'm bound and determined.
