I love to cook. Always on the look out for good wines. Reading a good book....attending social events...entertaining with friends.

Very lucky to be retired as young as I am. Left a corprate position and never looked back. My husband and I bought our house in 2005 and laid out a plan to move in 2009. However, things progressed more rapidly than expected and we made the permanent move in May of 2007. We are loving it!

Thanks for all the info.  We are well aware we are traveling during the hottest month!  For us it's the only time we can be away for a fair amount of time.  We'll be in the area a month and we have plans to stay in Isamel and Celestun for about two weeks of the time we'll be there.  I plan to spend the afternoons in airconditioned places or napping!  It doesn't take me long to adapt.  I have seen Henry Ponce's name mentioned on many of the houses I've seen.  Your are fortunate to have had him as an architect.  I agree that spending more for quality is worth it  in the long run.  We have seen a small house that could be built up and I'd love to get an estimate for adding a master bedroom with a bath and laundry room and outdoor space.  The yard is small but I believe we could put in a dipping pool.  Could you advise on the best way to contact him?  It would be nice to get together for a drink when we're there.

Where did you buy a house and did you renovate?  If so, do you have someone you would recommed?  what do you like doing since you are lucky enough to be retired?  If I can ask, where did you move from?  Also, did you move your stuff or did you start from scratch?  My husband and I will be spending the month of July in Merida and its surrondings.  We'd love to move there.  My husband is basically retired and I'd like to join him.  I presently work as a food service director for a public school system but am ready to give it up!
