Besides enjoying what I listed in my likes, I love doing yoga, tai chi & bellydancing, playing tennis and surfing. I also love to read scary novels and play around with writing sometimes.

Not much for television or movies...in fact I can't even think of anything to put here at the moment!

Bob Marley, Beres Hammond, Clinton Fearon, Peter Tosh, Inna Vision & Groundation are among my favourite reggae artists. Love motown/soul/r&b including artists such as Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Smoky Robinson, Mary J. Blige, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Commodores, etc. And of course, can always groove to Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Queen, Pink Floyd & Meatloaf just to name a few classic entertainers.

Typically read Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Judith Krantz, Ann Rule,Jeffery Deaver, Sue Grafton...for fun.

Love reggae music, body art, my dog, tequila sunrises, soy milk, spicy foods, pastries, interior design, computers, photography, gardening, dining out, good conversation, people watching.

Liver, some fish, cold weather, narrow-minded, judgmental and/or pretentious people, cruelty & violence, slugs.

Originally from Vancouver, Canada, my husband (Steve, originally from the UK) and I are currently living in Lahaina, Hawaii on the beautiful island of Maui. It was our first experience living in a tropical climate and after 6 months of being here, we knew we couldn't go back to Canada and the brrrrrrrrr! So, like many others we started to investigate where we could retire in comfort and just how we could go about doing that. We found International Living website and then the Merida Insider forums and thanks to all the info we were able to get, we made a trip to Merida in September to see for ourselves if it was for us.

Well, we have just purchased our little dream casa in Merida which we will be moving to permanently in about 5 years. The city met and exceeded our expectations and we love it there...it is exactly what we hoped it would be and more. We are so excited! Steve is even hinting that he might retire earlier...

In the meantime, we are planning on visiting as often as possible (2-3 times per year), working on our Spanish language skills and meeting new friends in and around the city.

It's so exciting to find people with similar interests and have it not be creepy to "friend" them.  I'm too used to myspace!

Hi MizD - Red here! Great meeting you at the IWC meeting. You missed a great coffee morning while you were flying back....I have a feeling that Merida is never going to be the same when you get here full-time...Can't wait to get my new BFF back here for some more giggles.

Hi MizD, welcome to the best retirement place on earth. My wife and I love it here, and I am sure you will also.

I have a couple of friends who moved here from Maui and we moved in close to them. The problem is that they have gone back to Maui for work reasons. Hope they come back.

hmmm..(Wonder if you ever met)

Hey MizD

Welcome!  We are beach dwellers, but my hubby works in Merida, and we make it in for music and other stuff, as it's pretty quiet out here.  We actually sold our land on the Big Island as part of moving here, looked at prices for building over there in Hawaii, and then saw a job opening down here and went for it!  But Lahaina is a gorgeous place, I have a couple of friends there.  Anyway...I see that you love reggae...you should check out I&I while you are here.  They have a show next Saturday (Nov 22)downtown, we are going.  They are Yucatan's own reggae band, great guys, great music.  Welcome, hope you have a great trip down here...oh, here's I&I's myspace, just in case you're interested...http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=91045558
