I have been called many things, most having to do with being a creative person, like “Punk Rock Martha Stewart” or “A Jill of All Trades” and even a “Renaissance Girl.” I attribute my outward right-brained thinking to what I call a lonely childhood in Philly with a creative-but-on-a-budget Mom, who could turn trash to treasure and cook something amazing from nothing at all.

Currently, I own and operate Four Corners Cuisine, a personal chef service that embraces two of my biggest goals in life; to cook great tasting, super healthy meals and to nurture people at the same time. Everyday I ask myself how I could have gotten SOOOOO lucky. Well, it’s taken a lot of hard work and a meandering path between rockin’ in a band and rockin’ the stove.

I’ve lived in several cities and played in many different bands. In Boston, it was subways with Mary Lou Lord, in Baltimore, the riot girl band Womyn of Destruction, then finally landing in Durham, NC, with band mate/husband, David, to form Gerty! and Ex-Members.

My experiences in the kitchen began first at a young age at my moms side, then during high school doing time at a dinner theater, posing as a pastry chef, a pizza maker, a caterer, a deli manager and the evening chef at a vegetarian restaurant to name a few. Through each experience, no matter how minor, I learned something behind that stove.

Always great to meet another foodie.  I'm from Boston....did you cook here and where?  I've been here since the end of '85 working as a chef and now I'm a food service director for a public school system and am amazed at how fullfilled I am bringing in good food for kids.  I had been a teacher at one time and understand the importance of food and learning.  I'm involved now with a new and growing movement to bring in locally grown food to the schools and start doing more scratch cooking.  How do you like NC?

So, what's your connection to Merida or any other part ofthe Yucatan?

My hubby (kiko on this site, Carlos in real life) is dying to try that cooking school.  It sounds fabulous!

I would be a client, although I'm not living there just yet.  My husband and I are coming for a visit in May, too.  Maybe we'll cross paths at some point...

Are you going to bring your personal chef service to Merida someday?

That would be awesome if that could happen...  Do you think there are clients for me? Would you be a client? Thanks for being a Yucatan Fan! My husband and I are visiting for the first time this coming May and really looking forward to checking it out.

Adios for now,
