Title: June 13: Feria de Emprendedores 2009
Tags: inventors, environment, new products
Article: The Feria de Emprendedores 2009 has been organized by the Instituto Tecnologico Superior Progreso. Participating will be 20 companies, all formed by students from the school. They will present their inventions, which will actually be on sale to the general public. All inventions have been created with environmental quality in mind. These students have worked hard to learn every step of business planning, financial statements, market studies, strategies of sales, publicity and marketing research, in addition to inventing the products themselves. They have already been through judging and have already made improvements to both their companies and to their products. This fair is to demonstrate their professionalism to the public, as well as their mission, their goals, and the vision they have for their companies. We hope that everyone will turn out to support these young inventors and their first attempts at developing their own businesses. Who knows? You might just find something you have always wished someone would invent and that you can't live without! Location: Parque Morelos, Progreso Time: 6:30 PM Admission: Free   Note: I watched these kids march in the streets not so many years ago - demanding clean streets, clean water, and clean air... and they wanted it "NOW!" (carrying big signs!). They were so cute - but now "cute" has given way to Today, throughout the State of Yucatan, these same young people have "Attitude 21" chapters, and they are going to college - and forming their own companies... and now a group of Yucateco children have won a worldwide environmental science project competition in Sweden.   Any time you don't think these Yucateco kids are serious - read about The Amazing World of HUNAB. Their site is in Spanish, but HERE is a news article I wrote about them last summer. After that little background, if you don't speak Spanish, load up Babelfish   and spend a little time on the HUNAB website . How humbling to discover that we can volunteer, but will only be used as resources because only children and adolescents are allowed to work and teach there!      Worry about the next generation and how they will run the planet when we are gone? Are you kidding? We live in Yucatan! If we have half the "smarts" we claim to have, we'll do everything we can to help these kids now and then step out of the way and let them have it!
