If you're anything like us, a visit to the supermarket during a rare trip to the States is a mixed bag of emotions. Depending on how much time has passed since your last visit, one thing is certain: You are going to be dazzled by the dizzying array of new products introduced, whose goals are to alternately taste delicious/kinda gross you out/save you time/make you fatter.
When we left, it was all about Eggo Wa-fulls and Coke Blak; two products which are surely old news by now, and, likely, have been removed from shelves. What have we missed? What tantalizing treats came and went, before they had a chance to pass our lips?
The Impulsive Buy blog has the answer, with product reviews of every new "gotta have it" food item that comes down the pipeline. Through the smart, clever reviews (complete with, often times, photography which can only be described as, "nauseating,") of such items as "Vanilla Milkshake Pop-Tarts" and something called a "Jack-in-the-Box Pita Snack," we can now live vicariously through the experiences of their brave reviewers, without risking any of the intestinal distress.
Here is an excerpt from their, "
Carlâ??s Jr. Guacamole Bacon Burger" review:
"When I looked at the Carlâ??s Jr. Guacamole Bacon Burger, which consisted of a beef patty, guacamole, two strips of bacon, melted pepper jack cheese, red onions, tomatoes, and lettuce on a toasted sesame seed bun, it reminded of three things: my hardening arteries, the movie Ghostbusters, and Christmas." Whether the reviews on The Impulsive Buy make you nostalgic for home, or vow to never again return North of the Border, one thing is certain: It's a hilarious read.
