Question:
What plants grow well at the beach? Which varieties will stand up to the elements? |
Answer: The plants you should consider for your beach area include: the orquÃdea jojombak (Myrmecophila tibicinis), cactaceous round polmis (Mammilaria gaumeri), uva de mar (sea grapes), kulub (Pterocereus gaumeri), sisal, verdolaga, chechén, lirio (iris), saladilla, tabaquillo, riñonina, algodón de playa (beach cotton), campanilla y la palma nakax.
Something to remember is that, if you do plant all of these on your property and into the beach area, you can expect an influx of iguana, little lizards, and birds - which is not necessarily a bad thing because they do eat bugs and such.
