The reason we are members of this website - is we share a common trait - we are not afraid of change, in fact we relish it!   That is why we have either moved,  or dream of moving to a the Yucatan .  Not for the faint of heart or your  average suburbanite.   That said -  what do you think of malcoms change  - the newest look for Yolisto?

Is it a little too "mainstream"?  Is the new logo and positioning statement too pedestrian and not enough mexican soul?   What about the background?  It could be a  leftover from a Sears portrait studio?    Is this a step backwards from a previously great look?

This is all in good fun.  malcom has given us a great forum and community to express our opinions- In good spirit , i'm offering a challenge to his revamp of yolisto.    What do you folks think?  I'm sure he is curious.

My goal for this round of tweaks to the design (which will continue for the rest of the week) was to simplify and refine the interface somewhat, keeping the features that members actually used, ditching the ones they don't, while keeping the overall look familiar, and not totally out of line with what everyone has gotten used to over the last two years.

The new logo was inspired by the hand-painted signage of Mexico, and, combined with the new background and neater, simplified presentation, is intended to combat the impression that Yolisto is intended for a "younger" audience, or is not a place for serious discussion.

Lizard,

I am guessing that your browser is just caching the old background image. Try doing a hard refresh by holding down the shift key while hitting the refresh button and see if that clears it up. Also, you can get back to the home page by clicking the main site logo.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Malcolm, I just did the hard refresh and what a difference. Like lizard I was getting hemorrhagic eye strain trying to read and I'm glad to know there is still a home page with articles.

The first time I saw the new look it had problems which Malcolm has already addressed. I really like it. I like where the new login is too. I love that wall in the current photo and want one just like for around my fountain!
regards,
Theresa

I like the look. Malcolm has a good eye. The clean design has always been appreciated.

I'm not a fan of the display ad at the top of the page, but I'm not a fan of them anywhere. They don't overpower the design or affect the UI, so thanks for that.

Malcolm, will your forthcoming move affect the operation of Yolisto? Are you planning to continue to operate it or are you looking for a seller? Those questions pose bigger risk in my mind, because you've built a nice little enterprise here that, under your stewardship, is very, very useful.
