I have a blanket that I would like to take to launder in the near future. I am thinking I'm going to have to drive into Merida to find one that a large blanket will fit? I want to wash it myself, not take it to Ana (my usual lavanderia) because it is big and I want to fluff dry it later.
I'm in Chelem, so the closest to me the better. I will drive to Merida, but would rather keep it to the north end, or the outskirts near periferico. Thanks!! |
| Psst! Guess what? I love Mexico :) | |

If its just one, it might be easier to wash it by hand. Soak it in a tub of warm soapy water, slosh it around a bit, put it to the side, dump the suds, fill the tub again with warm water and slosh it a bit more, hang it on a line and squirt it with a hose till it runs clear off the bottom of the blanket. We do sleeping bags by hand because they are so big, very hard on the washer.

There is a self serve laundromat in the Plaza Dorada area. Down the street that has a small hill. I'm always on foot, so I can't tell you the name of it. There is a large Casa Juanes either next to it, or across the street.

I found this baffling at first too...but since have seen 2 laundromats, one brand new and looks awesome with the big washers for blankets. The first one you take the Periferico exit off of the Progreso highway to the right...then you will take the retorno to fracc. de Montejo.....turn right to get to the fracc, then turn left at the Burger King, I believe this is 50th. Go about 3 long blocks until you see the gym on the right, turn right and it is in a small plaza right there on your right. The other brand new one is one or 2 more exits down the Periferico...take the retorno for Chuburna fracc., calle 21. then take the right for calle 21.....just drive down this street, maybe 1 mile...it is on the right hand side, and believe you me, after not seeing a do it your self laundry for a year and a half, this place looked like heaven to me. I have no idea of the rates, but I will soon, as I have a load of blankets that my tiny washer can not handle. Both of these are not far on the Periferico, and not far into town, so no Centro driving.
