When I've been in Progreso, I've and plenty of Mexican food and lots of Marquesitas. Good stuff but I can't recall much of a restaurant variety. I know I can find a great variety in Merida but how about Progreso? Any Italian places? Thai? Greek?

Elios is a great Italian place. La Recova is a steakhouse and open Semana Santa and summer. Everything else is fish, tacos, or burgers. A dining mecca it's not.

My son and his cousin love to go the the Taiwan restaurant in Progreso. He says their portions are large. It's on the west side of the road on Calle 80, next door to San Francisco grocery store.

Kay, we have 2 friends from Canada who winter in Chicxulub. They try to outdo each other on how many times they eat at that Taiwan place. They love it. I've never been inside the doors.

Sounds good to me. We've got traditional Mexican, seafood, Italian and Chinese. And marquesitas for dessert.

They do give you large portions at the Oriental place in Progreso,
but everything taste the same and doesn't really taste like it's supposed to.
I'm dying for some egg foo young, can't even find it in Merida.

We enjoy Elio's al Mare also. It's towards the eastern side of Progreso, waterfront.

I've read good reviews and then one by Yucatan Yenta that said she went many times and enjoyed it and then one night they refused to seat her. Guess I'd better be on my good behavior when I try it.

Street food? Gotta try Cochinita! It used to be available only on the weekends, but now you can get it any day of the week
in the Mercado in Progreso until around 1:00 p.m.

Anyone have a phone number for Elio's al Mare. We don't remember whether we made a reservation last time we were there (last year. Probably not an issue, but never know.

Thanks,
