Well worth the read: A good report on Rita Sanchez Hidalgo Morales and Canadian expat Sharon Helgason, co-founders of the Yucatan beach community of Chicxulub and its Food bank and other various projects initiated in whole or part by Helgason supported largely by expats, including transient visitors.

Al...Just to bump this up a bit...Sharon does a great job maintaining the Chicxulub food bank. She meets and greets and gives guided tours to cruisers who wish to visit Chicxulub (not a regular tourist destination) and everyone has had smiles on their faces when they arrive in Chicxulub.

Shirl and I are more than happy to assist her each month, since we have a vehicle that the supplies can be loaded into.

It is just one of the many "charities" that folks can support in the beach area. We chose Sharon's because we lived beside her for 6 years.

AND She and Shirl would BOTH slap me on the head with frying pans if I didn't participate!!! :D

How's that for a bump up?

We DO love assisting Sharon and Rita.
