The mosaic on my outside wall was constructed by my sister-in-law. Her name is Lynda Halfhide and she resides in Ottawa, Canada. Lynda made the mosaic from tiles we collected from many tile shops in Merida. We would go into the store and ask for their basura. I think they thought we were crazy. Lynda is quite a famous artist in Canada with many of her works on display all over the world. Her medium is oil, and acrylic. Many of her pictures have depth perspective by using plaster and carving the plaster on the canvas. My brother a RCMP officer and the family lived in the Arctic for four years, where Lynda painted a series on the Natives and life in the north. How lucky I am she came to the Yucatan. Ther person in the picture is my friend Olaf from Sweden. Olaf is 6'2" so you can tell just how big the mosaic is. Anyone is welcome to come and see it if you are in Chixulub.
