I hear you Sooz.  I had not expected such a hard to reach cenote on the trip.  If I knew it was going to be like this I prob would have chickened out :)  I'm such a weiner sometimes, especially when it comes to ladders and heights - those are two things I can do without!!  But what can ya do once you get there?  I was not about to sit outside waiting while the other people are having fun down snorkelling in the cenote!  And then there was my precious son.  I did not want to say anything about it being scary, and didn't want to put my fear on him.  So I bit my tongue, and with a lump in my throat and a very very fast beating heart, I slowly, like a turtle, began my decent.  And I am so happy I did.  It was wonderful once I got down into the water.  The 'ceiling' is extremely high, so there isn't the feel of a cave once you are down there.  It was the prettiest cenote too - so it was worth it.

Oh and btw - I asked before hand if there was anything in the water that could bite me :)  And no there isn't :)

Wow, very cool.  That water looks so clear.  Even though I'm a bit creeped out (well scared, not too comfortable in caves) this looks really awesome, and I will have to get brave and check it out...nice to see pics of it!
